CommsPort was established in 1998 and opened it first Internet Access location (we call them stores) as a concession within Costa Coffee in Edinburgh in December of that year. The company has gone forward in subsequent years by opening Internet stores mostly operated as in-store concessions with major retail brands.

CommsPort currently has around 80 stores throughout the UK, many of which are operated within Costa Coffee outlets; Debenhams Café Venue and Intercafe brands; Coffee Republic bars; Massarella Catering; Coffee@ and Youth Hostel Association (YHA) Group and quality independent operators. Contracts are also about to be signed with a number of other major multiple site brands.

The focus of CommsPort’s activities has been to install and operate high quality ‘turn-key’ Internet Access solutions. This has been achieved successfully over the years and led to CommsPort’s success responding to major retailers’ demands for a high level of service and 7-day no-hassle technical support.

Internet Kiosks & Wifi Hotspots


A typical CommsPort store comprises of any number of fixed interent terminals, or internet kiosks, linked via a dedicated sophisticated telecoms connection to CommsPort’s monitoring service which controls software functions and gives access to the Internet. CommsPort also offers WiFi hotspots enabling customers to use their own Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) or laptops connected wirelessly via CommsPort’s infrastructure.

A key aspect of CommsPort’s growth strategy has been to ‘white label’ its service and brand identity according its trading partners’ brands. Front screen savers, logging on screens and most point of sale collateral are branded under the trading partner’s identities.
